Privacy Policy

This policy is provided as a template and should be reviewed by legal counsel before launch.

Wazbuy (โ€œWazbuyโ€, โ€œweโ€, โ€œusโ€ or โ€œourโ€) helps sellers across India turn WhatsApp into a complete storefront. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal data when you visit our website at wazbuy.com or use the Wazbuy seller platform, dashboard and related services (together, the โ€œServiceโ€). It applies to sellers, their team members, prospective customers and visitors to our website. We process personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the โ€œDPDP Actโ€) and other applicable law.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect information that you provide to us, that is generated as you use the Service, and that we receive from the third-party platforms you connect. This may include:

  • Account information: your name, email address, mobile number, password and login credentials, and your role within a seller account.
  • Business details: your store name, business category, address, GSTIN or other tax identifiers, bank or settlement details, and KYC information you provide to operate a storefront.
  • Catalogue & order data: products, prices, images and descriptions you upload, together with orders, carts, delivery addresses and the contact details of buyers who interact with your store.
  • Payment metadata: transaction identifiers, amounts, status, UPI or instrument type and other non-sensitive payment signals processed to run Fraud Shield risk checks. Full card numbers and similar sensitive payment credentials are handled by our payment partners, not by Wazbuy.
  • Usage & device data: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, pages viewed, referring links, approximate location derived from IP, and diagnostic logs.
  • Communications: messages, enquiries, support tickets, demo requests and feedback you send to us, including the content of those messages.

2. How we use your information

We use personal data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and operate the Service: create and manage your account, host your storefront and keep the platform running reliably.
  • To process orders and payments: facilitate checkout, route payments through our partners and reconcile settlements.
  • To run Fraud Shield checks: assess order and payment risk, detect suspicious activity and help protect sellers and buyers from fraud and chargebacks.
  • To provide support: respond to your enquiries, troubleshoot issues and send service-related notices.
  • To improve our product: understand how the Service is used, measure performance, fix bugs and develop new features.
  • To meet legal and compliance obligations: comply with applicable law, enforce our terms and respond to lawful requests.
  • To send optional marketing: share product updates, offers and tips, where you have given consent. You can withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time.

3. WhatsApp & third-party services

The Service integrates with the WhatsApp Business Platform and with payment, UPI and logistics providers so that buyers can browse, buy, pay and track within chat. When you connect or rely on these services, certain data is shared with them so they can perform their functions, for example, message routing, payment processing or shipment tracking.

These third parties handle data under their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We do not control how they process personal data once it is in their systems. WhatsApp and Meta are trademarks of their respective owners.

4. Sharing & disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers and sub-processors: trusted vendors that help us run the Service, such as cloud hosting, communications, payment, logistics, analytics and customer-support providers, who are permitted to use the data only to perform services for us.
  • Legal requirements: where we are required to disclose data to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process or an enforceable government or law-enforcement request.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, in which case personal data may be transferred subject to this policy.
  • With your direction: where you ask us to share data, for example by connecting an integration.

5. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as it is needed to provide the Service, maintain your account and store records, and for legitimate business or legal purposes such as tax, accounting, dispute resolution and fraud prevention. When data is no longer required, we delete it or anonymise it. Where you close your account, we may retain limited information for the period required by applicable law.

6. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls, authentication and monitoring of our systems. We limit access to personal data to those who need it to operate the Service. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

7. Your rights

Subject to the DPDP Act and other applicable law, you have rights in relation to your personal data, including:

  • The right to access a summary of the personal data we process about you.
  • The right to seek correction or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • The right to withdraw consent where our processing is based on consent.
  • The right to grievance redressal and to nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, as provided under the DPDP Act.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@wazbuy.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the relevant authority under the DPDP Act.

8. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Service and understand how it is used. We may use privacy-aware analytics tools to measure traffic and improve the website. You can control cookies through your browser settings, although disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works.

9. Children

The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. International users & data location

Wazbuy is operated from India and primarily serves sellers in India. Our service providers may process or store data in locations outside India. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we take steps consistent with the DPDP Act and applicable law to keep it protected. If you access the Service from outside India, you understand that your data may be processed in India and other countries.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the โ€œLast updatedโ€ date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
